How To Turn On Roku TV Without Remote (Quick & Easy!)

If you’ve misplaced your Roku TV remote, you’ll be glad to know there’s more than one way to turn on your Roku Tv without the remote!

Turn On Roku TV With Hidden Power Button

The quickest way to turn on a Roku TV without the remote is by using the hidden power button. Depending on your Roku TV’s model and year, this hidden power button will be in one of four places. By inspecting your Roku TV, you’ll be able to find the small hidden power button.

1. Underneath the center of the Roku TV

For most Roku TV models, the power button will be positioned underneath the TV, in the center. Due to the hidden nature of this spot, many Roku TV owners don’t even know it’s there! If you use your hand to feel the underside of your Roku TV, you should be able to locate this small button.

2. Right-hand side at the back of Roku TV

Another common location for this power button is at the back of your Roku TV, on the right-hand side. Once again, this button is rather hidden. By looking at the back right side of your Roku TV, you should be able to find the power button.

3. Left-hand side at the back of Roku TV

If you still haven’t located the power button, it’s time to check the left-hand side of your Roku TV.

4. Front left side underneath the Roku TV

The last place the hidden Roku TV power button could be is underneath the unit, towards the front left-hand side. By running your hand along this section, you can find the power button.

If you can’t find the hidden Roku TV power button, you can use your user manual to find out where this button is located. Once you’ve found the power button, you can press it to turn your Roku TV on or off.

Of course, to control your Roku TV, you will need a remote control. You’ll be able to order a replacement remote from Roku. However, there’s also a way you can power and control your Roku TV without a remote control: by using the official Roku app!

Turn On Roku TV Using Roku Mobile App

If you want to control your Roku TV without a remote, you can use the official Roku mobile app!

Step One: Install The Roku Mobile App

To control your Roku TV with your smartphone, you’ll need to install the official app. Roku’s app is available for both Android and Apple devices. To install the app, you can visit Google Play or the Apple App Store. This app is free to install.

When installing the Roku app, you need to ensure you install the official version, which we linked above. On your app store, you’ll find many unofficial third-party apps that are not from Roku Inc.

Step Two: Check Your Internet Connection

Before you open the Roku app, you’ll want to ensure you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku TV. Using the Roku app to control your Roku TV will only work when both the Roku device and your phone are connected to the same network.

Step Three: Open The Roku Mobile App

Once the official Roku app has been installed and you’ve ensured you’re on the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku TV, you can go ahead and launch the official Roku app. If it’s the first time you’re using Roku’s smartphone app, you’ll need to accept the terms and services.

There will also be a short tutorial that will guide you through the Roku app and its features. Once you’ve completed this tutorial, you can proceed with these steps to control your Roku TV using this app.

Step Four: Navigate To Devices

In the Roku app, you need to navigate to Devices. You’ll be able to find this at the bottom of your screen. If you haven’t used the Roku app before, you’ll need to grant permission for the app to scan for nearby Roku devices. This needs to be accepted to control your Roku TV with the app.

Step Five: Select Roku Device

From the Devices tab, the official Roku app will scan for nearby Roku devices. If your Roku TV is plugged in, it will appear on this list. Once your device appears, you can select it and proceed to the following step.

If you don’t see your Roku TV listed in the Devices Tab, you need to ensure your smartphone and Roku TV unit are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If your devices are using different devices, you will be unable to connect to your Roku TV.

Step Six: Click On Remote Icon

Once you’ve selected your Roku TV on the app, you’ll see it listed as ‘connected’ on the Roku app home screen. You will see three available options for your Roku TV: Remote, Channels, and Media. You should click on the Remote icon, which features four remote control buttons in a + shape.

Step Seven: Use Roku App To Navigate TV

Once you’ve selected Remote on your Roku app, you’ll be able to control your Roku TV with your smartphone. On the app, you’ll have four directional buttons, as well as an OK button. In addition to this, there are buttons for replay, voice control, brightness, play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward.

In addition to these, there are buttons for settings, keyboard input, headphones, and search functionality. While the app can be used to control your Roku TV, it cannot power the device on or off. Instead, you’ll need to use the hidden power button on your Roku TV, which we discussed in the first section of this article.

Conclusion

If you’ve lost your Roku TV remote, you can turn the TV on using the hidden power button. To control your Roku TV without a remote, you can use the official Roku mobile app.
